Solomon Lesson 7
Wednesday night’s class was kind of wild. I know Wednesday nights are hard on everyone. Some of the kids have been at daycare all day and would probably rather be at home, others have been at home all day and are all keyed up to be around everyone else. And then there’s the problem of the teacher not always being on top of things. Wednesday night was a combination of all the above.
After I wrote the lesson plan for Wednesday, I remembered that I was wanting to read When I’m a Mommy (I can’t remember the author right now). So we did that. The book takes Proverbs 31 and puts it into words kids understand. It is written in the 1st person — a little girl wanting to be the best mommy. We’ll read it again tomorrow. Then, Wednesday night read the companion book — When I’m a Daddy. This one doesn’t use any of Solomon’s writings, it comes mostly from the New Testament. The premise is the same, so I think it will be a good time to read it to the kids.
When we were doing our Proverbs Pocket, we learned the Proverb — Even a child is known by his doings. One of the kids had learned it in pre-school/daycare. He was so excited to learn it in Bible class also.

This Little Light Of Mine — Turn on battery candle. Use it to remind the kids to behave.
Magnetic Puzzle — Solomon’s Exotic Animals
Solomon Flip Chart. Read entire flip chart.
Sing “Go To The Ant” by Glenda Schales. We’ve been singing this frequently. They are learning the words. Now they will learn that Solomon wrote these words in Proverbs.
Attendance Chart — Our attendance chart this month is a cloth pouch. Each class session they will put a “gold coin” in their pouch. By the end of the month, they should be rich. I put their names on the pouches with glow in the dark fabric paint. They really like turning the light off and seeing their names. I know this has nothing to do with Solomon, but they get a kick out of it.
Pass out Proverb Pockets with colored illustration of the 3 Proverbs we have studied so far in it. Review it with the kids so hopefully they will memorize it.
Have children sit on their pillows on the floor.

Sing Whatever I Will Be When I Grow Up. This is a great song. I have several career hats the kids get to wear. When we talk about their “career”, they get to stand up. We also sing the verses If I should be a mommy/daddy when I grow up.
